Board of Trustees report Greetings, All! If you think that attendance at our Sunday Services is greater than in past Summers, you’re right. Our attendance has been greater than the last two years - both in the summer and overall. So, apparently we are moving away from being one of Louisville’s best kept secrets. Please feel free to invite friends and family to join us for one of our heartfelt celebrations. Following the principles taught by our co-founders, Charles and Myrtle Filmore, we are a tithing church.
Earlier this year, the board asked you to help decide where to contribute a percentage of UL’s monthly tithes in our Community Outreach Program. Based on the congregation’s nominations and vote, we made our regular local tithes to The Healing Place, the Center for Women and Children and Hosparus. Please review and complete the Community Outreach Program organization nomination form in the Sunday bulletin. Once the nominations are complete, the congregation will once again vote to select the 2017/18 local tithe recipients. We also tithe to the Great Lakes Unity Region, Silent Unity and Worldwide Sacred Service opportunity now available Unity Ministries. We continue to change the world through love by making these payments every month.
Recently the Board approved Frank and Liz Naussbaum as new members of Unity of Louisville. Please greet them when you see them and help make them feel at home with us.
The Board continues to evaluate our options for repairing, upgrading and perhaps replacing parts of our facilities. We have a proposal from one architect to take us through the initial stages of that process and get us to a place where we can get realistic costs to share with the congregation. We will get at least one, if not two more proposals in the next few weeks.
Speaking of planning for the future, there is an interest group that is working on a plan for starting a Unity School that could eventually include grades K-12 based on Montessori School principles. The planning group’s meetings are announced in the bulletin and usually occur after Sunday Service. If you want to help or are curious, please attend the next meeting. More to follow next month!
