Beloved CommUnity,

The Board of Trustees is working diligently to address concerns raised at the annual meeting, and we thank you all for your patience as we dig in to some really big work for this community. We continue to practice gratitude for the opportunity to grow in our spiritual principles, knowing that moving through challenges creates space for expansion. Here's a little insight into what we've been working on.

First, we would like to welcome Debi Griffin to the Board of Trustees! In our May meeting, the Board appointed Debi to replace Kennedy McStoots, who recently stepped down. Debi brings a joyful and grounded presence to our Board, and a background in Communication, Conflict Resolution, and Non Violent Communication principles. She felt the call to serve, and we are thankful she answered!

Secondly, we have been working on implementing the Regional Recommendations from the Great Lakes Unity Region. In addition to implementing their recommendations, we are also implementing some of our own to ensure accountability and transparency from all aspects of leadership. Once our recommendations have been finalized, we will share them with the community prior to the May 31st Listening Circle. Which brings us to our last update...

Some of you have had questions about the Listening Circles. We have two on the calendar, May 31st (facilitated by Diane Robinson) and June 14th (facilitator TBD). The purpose of a listening circle is to provide a safe, intentional space for congregants to share their personal stories, feelings, and perspectives without interruption, debate, or judgment. The goals are building community trust, communal discernment, and fostering deeper empathy. Our leadership team knows the importance of constructive critique and criticism. If we agree on everything, then we are likely not challenging ourselves to grow.  We truly hope that you will attend and share both your concerns and your hopes for the future of our community.

As always, please reach out to any Board member if you have questions or concerns. We thank you for your continued support and all that you pour into Unity of Louisville.

Blessings and Kindest Regards,

Leah S Zellers
